The Nigerian Army has announced that Samaila Inusa, a Colonel, who was kidnapped on Sunday 27 in Kaduna, has been found dead.
Inusa’s body, according to the statement issued by Army spokesperson, Sani Usman, which was discovered on Tuesday was already decomposing and has since been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Reference Hospital, Kaduna.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors. This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State,” the army spokesman said.
Inusa, who served at the Nigeria Army School of Infantry, Jaji, Kaduna State, was with his wife when the gunmen pounced. They dropped off the wife before driving away with the officer towards Abuja.
The army has, however, vowed to arrest those responsible for the death of the officer.
“We wish to state in unmistakeable terms that whoever is behind his abduction and murder would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement concluded.
