The Ministry of Labour and Employment has distanced itself from rumours making the rounds that it asked unemployed Nigerians to submit their credentials and applications for employment.
It called on Nigerians to disregard such information as it did not emanate from the government.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the spokesperson of the ministry, Samuel Olowookere, a deputy director.
“In view of the apprehension the false information has generated, it pertinent to point out that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, is committed to the creation of decent employment opportunities to teeming unemployed Nigerians and has perfected plans for massive job creation through well thought out programmes like Graduate Teachers Conversion Programme, Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, Vocational Skills Acquisition and Upgrading, Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT, for the vulnerable persons including market women,” the statement read, adding that the public will be informed whenever any of the programmes is about to commence.
It further warned people to disregard any other information not coming directly from the ministry, including information that people should pay application fees.
The statement added that whoever does otherwise does so at their own risk.
