Osun guber poll: Protect your votes to stop APC from rigging, Atiku tells voters

PEOPLES Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has appealed to voters in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election to protect their votes in order to stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) from rigging the poll.

Atiku spoke while canvassing votes for PDP candidate Ademola Adeleke at the party’s mega rally in Osogbo, Osun State capital, on Thursday.

The former vice president noted that the state had always been a stronghold of the PDP.

“This is a PDP state. Don’t let them steal your votes this time. They have been rigging elections here since 12 years ago. In 2010 they rigged through the court; in 2018, they rigged through the ballot,” he said.

“Don’t allow them to steal this time around. Make sure you vote and defend your votes. If you allow them, you will go back to darkness.”

In his remarks, PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu berated the APC-led government in Osun State, saying there is darkness in the state.

Ayu called on the electorate to vote for the PDP candidate, assuring that Adeleke would usher in good governance if elected.

Also speaking at the rally, former Senate President Bukola Saraki recalled that the PDP was robbed of its mandate to govern the state in 2018.

He charged the people to vote out the APC by ensuring that Adeleke is elected governor on July 16.
