Osun guber poll: Vote-buying recorded as party agents offer money to voters

VOTE-BUYING has been observed in some polling units across different local government areas of Osun State in the ongoing governorship election.

The ICIR observed that some agents offered money to voters before and after they exercised their voting rights.

In Sagba/Abogunde Ward 2, Polling Unit 09 of Ede North LGA, Osun West Senatorial District, a woman was sighted compiling a list of voters.

Also, at Polling Unit 001, Ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesa East, The ICIR observed vote buying at Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola’s polling unit.



Agents were seen giving out money to voters.

At polling Unit 001, Ward 05 of Ife Central LGA, Osun East, some voters were heard discussing how they voted for APC and when they were told to come for the money.




     

     

    The ICIR also observed a viral video of an elderly man showing off his ballot paper to political party agents after casting his vote.

    At Polling Unit 008, Ward 01, Orolu LGA, a young man was seen trying to disrupt the process as he was making a scene while demanding that a party agent should follow him to vote.

    The police on ground paid no attention to the situation even as he was constituting nuisance.

    The unidentified young man also brought some people and demanded that the INEC staff should attend to them.
