VIDEO: Malian “Spider Man” scales four-storeyed building to save a little child in Paris

MAMOUDOU Gassama, an immigrant from Mali, has been praised for his bravery after he scaled four floors to save a child hanging from a balcony in Paris, France.

Three weeks ago, Gassama left Réunion, a region in France, where his mother and grandmother live, and moved to Paris to join his father, who was working there. The incident took place on Saturday.

Speaking to French TV station RMC, the little boy’s grandmother described how she felt seeing the video of her grandson hanging off the balcony.

“My God, I was very shocked. My grandson, my grandson, save him!” she said.

“Thankfully he (Gassama) knew how to climb because there were a lot of people below but he didn’t just fold his arms. He raced up to the fourth floor. That was truly incredible. He was very brave. He’s truly a hero.”

Following the incredible rescue, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, personally met with Gassama and thanked him.

The father of the rescued child faces charges as he as reported to have left the child unattended and had left for shopping.

“I can’t justify what my husband did,” the child’s mother told newsmen. “People will say it could have happened to anyone and it has happened to other people. My son was just lucky.”
