Twelve traffic offenders were on Thursday convicted by the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Special Mobile Court in the Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The FRSC unit commander in the area, Charles Umoh, said that court, which sat on specific traffic corridors of Kuje-Gwagwalada Road and Kuje-Airport Road, freed eight other offenders brought before it.
Umoh said that the offenders were tried for offenses ranging from dangerous driving, speed limit violation, use of phone while driving and over-loading of passengers.
He also said some others were prosecuted on for driving with expired driver’s licence and expired vehicle documents.
The unit commander said that establishment of the mobile court resulted from collaboration between the commission and the judiciary in an effort to enforce discipline on motorists and reduce road accidents.
In an appeal, he warned motorists and other road users against breaking traffic rules, warning that the command would not spare offenders.
He, however, assured that the command would continue to improve on its operations with the aim of reducing road accidents in the area.
