Police yet to confirm alleged abduction of 15 residents in Enugu community

THE Enugu State Police Command has said it is yet to confirm reports that 15 residents of Mgbuji in the Eha-Amufu Community of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state were abducted by armed men.

The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer Daniel Ndukwe disclosed this in a statement released on Monday in Enugu.

There were reports that the armed men, suspected to be herdsmen, abducted the residents on Monday morning.

However, the police said it is trying to confirm the reports.




     

     

    The statement reads: “The Command is yet to get clear information or report on the report alleging abduction of about 15 persons at Mgbuji in Eha-Amufu Community by armed men in the morning hours of July 18.

    “However, effort is being made to ascertain the occurrence or otherwise of the incident as alleged.

    “We also want to obtain relevant facts that will aid appropriate police actions and to avoid the police being speculative.”

    The residents were reportedly kidnapped at about 7:00 am along Mgbuji-Agu road within Mgbuji town while going to their farms.
