Rep alleges attack on supporters by political thugs

THE member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Wole Oke, has claimed that suspected political thugs attacked his supporters in the Government Reserve Area of Osogbo, Osun State.

In a statement he personally signed on Friday, February 10, Oke stated that the attack occurred shortly after some northerners living within his constituency visited him and pledged their support for his re-election.

    According to him, 15 people were inflicted with machete cuts and had to be treated in a hospital in Osogbo.

    He also alleged that one of the perpetrators was apprehended and handed over to the police for further investigation.

    Efforts to reach the State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, for comment were unsuccessful.

    Several calls to her line did not go through, and she did not respond to an SMS.
