In the deluge which ravaged the county on Wednesday, several vehicles were swept away while buildings were flooded leaving many homeless. Several roads leading to the region were also cut off in the flood.
Authorities said that properties worth millions of Kenyan shillings were lost in the tragedy.
Narok County is located some 100 km from the nation’s capital, Nairobi.
The Narok County commissioner, Arthur Osiya, said that heavy rains have hindered rescue efforts by the authorities, adding that operations would cease until weather conditions improve.
The Kenyan police and members of the Red Cross Society were among the earliest rescue teams to gain access to the area and are still on ground.
