The court of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, sitting in Abuja, has rejected an application filed by the federal government seeking to strike out a suit filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
Less than 24 hours after a group of Igbo intellectuals called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has struck out six of the eleven-count charges brought against him by the federal government.
Addressing the media on behalf of the group on Tuesday in Abuja, Soludo described Kanu’s continued detention as unlawful, while also condemning the killing of IPOB members in the South East.
The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, resumed on Tuesday and during the hearing, Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told the court that the Department of State Services, DSS, were responsible for the death of some people who had visited the Biafran activist in prison.
The secret trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indegineous People of Biafra, IPOB, is expected to begin on Tuesday, after Justice Binta Nyako, controversially ruled in favour of an application by the Department of State Security, DSS, that the trial be held behind closed doors.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has approved Federal Government’s application to hide the identities of prosecution witnesses in the trial of Pro-Biafran leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
