Xmas: Over 200 Police officers drafted to secure Catholic musical concert in Abuja

AS the nation draws closer to Christmas celebration, not less than 200 police officers have been assigned to ensure the safety of persons billed to attend the Catholic Maranatha musical concert scheduled to hold in Abuja today.

The end of the year concert, according to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria is meant to preach the gospel of Christ through music, foster better relationship among Christians and as well reach out to the needy in the society.




     

     

    Addressing a press briefing in Abuja, Rev. Fr. Chris Anyanwu, the Deputy Secretary-General and Chairman, Media and Publicity for the event disclosed that the event would hold at the premises of the Catholic Secretariat, Durumi, Area 1 from 7 pm till dawn.

    He said the praise event that would be featuring gospel artistes are Steve Crown, Buchi, Jude Nnam, Mercy Chinwo, Chioma Jesus among others would transit to an annual occasion.

    “Since it is happening within the period of advent, it is an avenue for us to prepare ourselves spiritually for the coming of our Lord Jesus at Christmas,” he said.

    Some of the dignitaries expected at the concert include Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President, Most Revd. Augustine Akubeze, President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria among others.
